Utilizing data analytics, AI, and machine learning to improve health outcomes and enable evidence-based decision making.
Supporting scalable, sustainable, and innovative research to address healthcare challenges in underserved communities.
Advancing policies and practices that address root causes of health disparities and promote equitable healthcare for all.
Empowering healthcare professionals and community leaders to effectively use advanced technologies in their everyday work.

Whether you're a partner, funder, or passionate individual there's a place for you in our mission to transform healthcare across Africa.
A non-profit foundation born in Rwanda, working to reshape health equity across Africa through technology and innovation.
The Tech for Health Equity (TFHE) Foundation was established in 2024 with a vision to address the persistent healthcare challenges faced by many African countries. Inspired by Rwanda's excellent track record of leveraging technology in sectors like e-governance and agriculture, we seek to foster similar innovation in the health sector.
We envisage a future where innovative technology empowers every individual in Africa to achieve optimal health and well-being.
TFHE Foundation Vision
To leverage technology to improve healthcare access and outcomes, becoming a catalyst for increased investment in well-governed, impactful initiatives across Rwanda and Africa.
Four principles that shape every decision, program, and partnership we undertake.
We focus on doing things that can easily be repeated in various places. This allows us to have maximum impact with efficiency.
We do not exist in spite of the communities in which we operate. We embrace a community mindset and work closely with local leaders.
We do work that lasts. We work closely with public health officials to ensure interventions are integrated into long-term plans.
We adopt approaches that scale. Technology offers immense potential for scalability, and we seek to design programs that scale.
The foundation is guided by experienced leaders supporting its mission, partnerships, and long-term impact.
TFHE works with a focused group of partners supporting health innovation, implementation, research, and technology deployment.
Technology-driven programs designed to transform healthcare access for underserved communities across Africa.
TFHE works with local partners to identify and implement mHealth platforms that contribute to easy access to healthcare information, virtual consultations, and health tracking services. Platforms support maternal and child health programs, community outreach, and chronic disease management.
We work with local governments and stakeholders to strengthen the digital infrastructure of health facilities, including digital record-keeping systems and telemedicine services that facilitate real-time diagnostics, consultations, and treatment in remote areas.
Communities in low-income and remote areas that face significant barriers to accessing quality healthcare due to geographic distance and limited infrastructure.
Pregnant women, mothers, and children who face critical barriers to maternal and child healthcare, where technology can dramatically reduce mortality rates.
Young people and local health workers who will benefit from digital health education, training, tools, and capacity building programs.
Despite advances in global healthcare, underserved communities particularly in rural or low-income areas continue to face major challenges:
"Because disadvantaged communities are not immune to the global rise in preventable diseases there is a dire need for scalable, technology-driven interventions."
TFHE Concept Note, 2026
Starting in Rwanda, we aim to expand across neighboring countries, creating a scalable model that advances health equity across the region.
Ensure at least 80% of rural populations have increased access to essential health services through telemedicine, mobile health, and drone delivery by 2029.
Implement scalable pilot projects focusing on telemedicine, AI diagnostics, and mobile health platforms in at least 10 regions across Rwanda and neighboring countries.
Train over 5,000 healthcare professionals on integrating technology into their practices to ensure effective use of new tools and techniques in patient care.
Establish at least 50 strategic partnerships including government agencies, NGOs, tech companies, and academic institutions to drive innovation and resource mobilization.
Build a robust body of evidence through research initiatives that demonstrate the impact of technology-driven health interventions and inform global policy.
Position TFHE Foundation as a leading catalyst for health equity in Africa, with a scalable, replicable model that can be deployed across the continent.
TFHE recognizes that achieving health equity at scale requires deep collaboration with governments, private sector, and development organizations.
